  1. The PINELLAS ferry was originally brought down from Wilmington, North Carolina as the WILMINGTON in 1926. In 1930 she was renovated and renamed the PINELLAS. After the Sunshine Skyway Bridge was completed in 1954, the Bee Line Ferry went out of business and Capt. Joe Winters bought the PINELLAS and ran her as a fishing & moonlight excursion vessel. The PINELLAS & SARASOTA served in the US Navy during WWII. The PINELLAS became the SEABROOK YFB-38 (Yard Ferry Boat) and ran between the Naval Air Station and Jacksonville, FL during that time.
